We’ve been organizing and running startup events since 2014 to grow and strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Timisoara. We connect the doers with the business people and help community members grasp entrepreneurship by joining events like Startup Survivor, Startup Weekend, or Startup Coffee.

By autumn 2016, the need for a space to call our own, a place for all our events to occur, became clear to us. We couldn’t just move the events from one location to another anymore.

This is when we came up with the CoworkTimisoara concept and started prepping our first location (Tineretului). This space (and the business around it) was built in the spirit of what we preach—lean startup all the way—a small, bootstrapped space so we can prospect the market and test whether there really is a need for commercial co-working spaces in Timisoara.

December 2016, Cowork Timisoara (Tineretului)

Cowork Timisoara Tineretului was launched in February 2017. Located on the 2nd floor of Casa Tineretului, it’s 100 sqm [16 fixed desks], a small kitchenette area, and a meeting room. Of course, proper coffee was our first concern—we had the espresso machine long before we finished installing the carpet.

Fast-forward to September 2018. With over 100 events hosted, a couple of thousands of people visiting our venue, startups, freelancers, accountants, photographers, web developers, and techies working from the location, it was time for the next level.

With so much activity, we already outgrew our first location, so we need a new location from which to offer an even wider array of options that could continuously contribute to the growth of the local community.

November 21th (2018)- the opening of @Cowork Timisoara The Garden.
We found a perfect new location — a house across the street from Politehnica University of Timisoara and just a few minutes walk from the City Center. We have 300 sqm meters distributed on two floors, and don’t start us about the garden (we hardly wait for the spring). Our brand-new co-working space offers the perfect balance between office and event space.

Now, we’re very close to celebrating two years of Cowork Timisoara, and we’d like to sum it up with some statistics:
  • over 500 hours our team invested in renovating our spaces (we’re still bootstrapping baby!);
  • over [500] hours we and our volunteers spent organizing entrepreneurship events;
  • 100 hosted & organized events raging from 8 people workshops to 100 attendees Timisoara Startups Demo Day
  • 1000+ people coming to visit the two coworking places we had or have;
  • 100+ residents from various backgrounds in the last two years (and still counting the number of startup teams, tech freelancers, or tech employees to accountants or photographers that choose to join us);
  • 50 kg of coffee beans consumed;
aaand… the internet is going strong > it only crashed about 4–5 times in this time frame.

If you’d like to visit us, make sure you send us a message at hello@coworktimisoara.com so that we can give you a tour of either of the two spaces.

We’d like to thank everyone for supporting us and believing that we can only win as a community if we work together. Our mission is to help the community grow in terms of startups & entrepreneurship and to act as a facilitator through this process. If you're of the same opinion don't hesitate to get (or stay) in touch. There are countless opportunities in which you as a person or representing a local company can be part of this! Thank you, CoworkTM Team
